THE FIRST ILHA ESSENTIAL

Pure Beef Tallow

A BEAUTIFUL WORLD

ILHA

ILHA, Portuguese for “island”, is a lifestyle brand founded on the simplicity of island living. From kitchen and skincare to homeware and fashion, ILHA is an evolving edit of island essentials and unexpected treasures, informed by nature and the colours, textures and patterns of island life.

ILHA began with its first product, pure beef tallow sourced from the lush green volcanic pastures of the Azores Islands, Portugal.

Our founder, who is Portuguese South African, brought ILHA back to another special place: her home, KwaZulu-Natal. She grew up in a Portuguese family in tropical Durban, where the ease and simplicity of life have always felt like island living to her.

It only felt right to begin again in South Africa with pure beef tallow from the grasslands and valleys of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

KWAZULU-NATAL

Raised differently.

In the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, cattle graze across open grasslands and green valleys in a mild subtropical climate, surrounded by rolling hills, rivers and the foothills of the Drakensberg.

This slower, more natural rhythm of farming reflects the island way of life at the heart of ILHA. Our connection to nature and the colours, textures and patterns found across these landscapes shape the island essentials we curate.
